New Look for the PTC Creo Blog Coming (Includes a Sneak Peek)

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you should know that we’re planning a little remodeling this spring. The PTC Creo blog has displayed nearly the same look and feel since we launched in 2010. Compare the blog today with this screen shot from November 2010 (courtesy of the Wayback machine).

We’ve made a few tweaks, and we’re embedding more videos now, but the changes have been subtle and nearly imperceptible over time. The PTC Creo Blog 2.0 promises to be more dramatic. Here’s what you’ll want to know:

Why are we changing it now?

Technology evolves and so do tastes. Today, more people read from their tablets and phones, and their web pages no longer ought to look like a shrunken version of their laptop screens. Users prefer, and expect, more graphics than ever before, too. Plus we all want easier-to-read pages and faster performance.

What happens to all the old blog articles and links?

Those remain the same. While the look, feel, and even the servers all change, for the readers all the stories we’ve posted so far (there are 1481, in case you’ve lost count) will remain available from the same address they were posted in all along. Any links or bookmarks you have will remain viable.

When will we see this new site?

Web teams are in early testing and moving all the old material to the new format as you read this.  If all goes as planned, you should see the change in the next few weeks. That said, I was in an online meeting on Monday with Randall, our web designer, and he showed me a preview, which I quickly grabbed with some screen capture software. So, although this isn’t official, and things could change, and forward-looking statements are based on current information that is, by its nature, subject to change, and so on…here’s what it looks like in the lab right now:
