Autodesk Bestows Expert Elite Status on Cadalyst Contributing Editor

2 Jan, 2013 By: Cyrena Respini-Irwin

R.K. McSwain, who shares his expertise with other Autodesk software users via online forums, receives newly created honor.

Cadalyst contributing editor R.K. McSwain — perhaps better known as LISP code wrangler Hot Tip Harry — recently became one of the first recipients of a new Autodesk honor. Autodesk launched its Expert Elite program at Autodesk University 2012, as a way to recognize those customers that make extraordinary contributions to the company's online support community.

According to Autodesk, the goal of the Expert Elite program is to empower these super-users to "better share their knowledge, assist their peers, and support the Autodesk community." Members of the Expert Elite group are characterized by their regular and responsive participation in Autodesk's discussion forums or social media channels, advanced knowledge of the company and its products, and leadership in the user community.

Jillian Bejtlich, community manager, Autodesk discussion groups, explained how McSwain earned an invitation to the program. "He has a been a longtime active contributor [in the Autodesk discussion groups], always willing to help others with insightful, clear, and concise technical answers, and his contributions have not gone unnoticed," Bejtlich explained. "We were more than happy to invite him to be part of the initial group and were thrilled that he accepted. We look forward to a long relationship with him as an Expert Elite!"

"I am honored to be recognized and included in this exclusive program," McSwain told Cadalyst, "and I look forward to continuing my contributions to this effort."

The initial group of Elites was invited beginning on November 28, 2012; new members will be invited to join throughout the year, at times to be determined by Autodesk. There are currently about 60 individuals in the program, representing a half-dozen countries and a wide variety of industries, according to Bejtlich.

Editor's Note: Cadalyst Tip Reviewer Brian Benton was also inducted into the intial group of Expert Elites. Look for more information coming soon!
