The diagnostic microscope for the Diamond High Council was created by Hugo Smid, chief designer, sMIdESIGN cvba, Belgium. sMIdESIGN specializes in industrial product development. The company used UGS PLM Solutions’ NX software on NVIDIA-powered dual Pentium 4 workstations. The diamond microscope is used for gemological research, in particular for inspecting diamonds for possible inclusions or impurities.
