This Week's Software Tips
Use ACCADOC.LSP to Create AutoCAD Shortcuts
Miles Mehlhoff wanted to streamline his AutoCAD command inputs. Here is an example of what he did to decrease his drafting time. "I created a custom command in AutoLISP that assigns the offset command to a keyed-in 0 (zero key), followed by Enter." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Adjust Fillmode to Save Printing Time and Cost
Patrick Albert C. Sayo sends us a tip to save printing time and cost for AutoCAD files. "This tip is for those who use xrefs for title blocks. Our company logo is a big block of black ink. We print it up to five times for checking and cross checking -- a lot of ink is wasted." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Set Layer Filters to Display New Layers
Bill Neuhauser uses layer filters and needed a way that could handle new layer creation inside a filter. Here is what he did. "How many use layer filters? How many times have you created a new layer while in a layer filter only to wonder where the new layer is? When AutoCAD creates a new layer, it calls it Layer1, but the problem is that you are currently in a layer filter that is filtering only C3-* layers, for example." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Create Highlighted Viewport Sheets
Dave Drahn sends us a method he uses to highlight different linework in a drawing using multiple viewports. "This will leave you with a site sheet where the plot will highlight the area of interest and fade the rest of the site back." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
