This Week's Software Tips
Learning with Leonid
All but one of this week's tips come to us from frequent tipster Leonid Nemirovsky. Check out his Better Than Nothing AutoLISP site for more great tricks!
Customize the QAT
Leonid Nemirovsky shares with us a tip for using the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) in AutoCAD. It works great in AutoCAD 2010 and 2011. "You can place the Quick Access Toolbar above or below the ribbon, and you can add any command to it — including custom commands." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Use Layouts in Multiple Sheet Sets
In another tip from Leonid, he describes his method for placing one layout tab in an AutoCAD file into more than one sheet set list. "If you need to use the same layout in more than one sheet set, you can create a copy of the layout for use in another set." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Render 3D Models More Quickly
Leonid also shares with us a method he uses to shorten rendering time in AutoCAD. "This helps when creating a quick, realistic visual-style rendering or using the Render command." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
MInsert: Dynamic Blocks Predecessor
Alex Borodulin of NYacad shares a video tip about the MInsert command and other AutoCAD blocks–related tips.
Reminder: Display Drawings in the Windows Taskbar
Tip Patrol member Brian Benton offers a reminder for AutoCAD users who might not know about the Taskbar command. Type Taskbar at the Command prompt and set it to 1. With this setting, every drawing that you currently have open in AutoCAD will be displayed on the Windows taskbar. No need to cycle through them using Ctrl + Tab or to go to pull-down menus — just click the one you need.
