At the American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Convention held in Miami, Florida, June 10–12, AIA awarded California-based design firm Pugh + Scarpa the 2010 National American Institute Firm Award, recognizing the firm's leadership in sustainable and socially progressive design. The firm has posted a video highlighting its approach to building design.
Engineered Software Approved as DOE ALLY Organization
Engineered Software, maker of the PIPE-FLO and PUMP-FLO software lines, has been approved as an ALLY Organization of the U.S. Department of Energy's Industrial Technologies Program, Save Energy Now. The national initiative intends to reduce industrial energy intensity by at least 25% in the next 10 years. Engineered Software plans to offer support for the program and participants in the form of software analysis tools, training, and promotion of the initiative.
Flow Science Wins Two Business Awards
Flow Science, a provider of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and services, recently won two awards for excellence: the Employer of the Year, awarded by the Santa Fe Professional Business Women, and the Business Excellence Award from the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce.

Bentley Institute Press, the SmartGeometry Group, and the International Journal of Architectural Computing (IJAC) are extending their invitation to submit summaries of original articles for a new peer-reviewed publication about parametric design methods (download guidelines here). The authors of articles chosen for publication in SmartGeometry: The Evolution of Computational Design and Practice will receive free admission and travel to the SmartGeometry 2011 conference.
