Make Annotations Visible

Count Similar Blocks

Cadalyst Updates Benchmark Test for AutoCAD 2011
The latest version of the Cadalyst Benchmark Test, C2011 v5.3b, is available for free download at www.cadalyst.com/benchmark. Developed by Art Liddle, a former editor of Cadalyst magazine, the Cadalyst benchmark is designed to test and compare the performance of systems running AutoCAD. The latest version includes minor adjustments to ensure proper operation with AutoCAD 2011, but can be used with versions dating back to 2000. The test supports full, basic AutoCAD only. Full details are contained in the ReadMe file included with the download.
CAM Software Guide Explains Integrated Collision Checking
Manufacturing software provider Sescoi has released a free downloadable guide that itemizes and explains the reasons for using toolpath verification in CAM software and the benefits of integrated collision checking.
EM Photonics Updates CULA Linear Algebra Library
EM Photonics, which provides hardware-based application acceleration, has released CULA 2.0, its GPU-accelerated linear algebra library used by developers and scientists. The new version provides support for NVIDIA GPUs based on the latest Fermi architecture.
OSGIS Conference Workshop about GvSIG Available Online
A gvSIG workshop describing the open-source geographic information system's functionalities is now available on the gvSIG website. The courses about gvSIG Desktop 1.9 and gvSIG Mobile 0.3 were originally presented at the OSGIS 2010 conference held in Nottingham, UK, in June.
PLM Program Review Addresses Integration of Manufacturing, 3D CAD
Product lifecycle management (PLM) consulting and research firm CIMdata has released a new PLM Program Review entitled "Autodesk's Digital Prototyping for Manufacturing Program." The free review presents CIMdata's perspectives on the use of 3D design, analysis, prototyping, and simulation to support manufacturing engineering in the product development lifecycle.
Castle Island Report Provides Introduction to Open-source 3D Printers
Castle Island, a publisher of rapid prototyping materials, has released a report titled, "Everything You Should Know about Open-Source 3D Printers — but Didn't Know You Should Ask" ($9.95). It has been written in nontechnical language for users considering purchasing a kit or an assembled machine.

Chief Architect Offers Trial Software for Residential, Light Commercial Design
Design software developer Chief Architect is offering a free trial version of its 3D architectural design software. The company recently released the Premier X3 version, which includes a new ray-traced rendering engine and wizard, annotation sets, and ramp and stair tools.
Users Can Test-Drive City Creation Software Free for 30 Days
Urban modeling software company Procedural is providing a 30-day trial of its CityEngine 2010 software. The new version features dynamic city layouts, a node-based rule editor, and a facade wizard.
StudioGPU Provides No-Cost Trial Version of MachStudio Pro
StudioGPU, which develops technology for digital artists, has made a full-featured, 30-day free trial version of MachStudio Pro available for download. The real-time, nonlinear 3D workflow and rendering software allows users to interact with complex lighting, caustics, cameras, shaders, materials, ambient occlusion, and color grading.
Craft Animations Offers Visualization Software Upgrade at 35% Discount
Users of Autodesk 3ds Max and Softimage 2011 can upgrade to Craft Animations' Craft Director Studio (CDS) Visualize & Reconstruct Edition (regularly $1,844) at a 35% discount until September 30, 2010.

SolidWorks User Wins Popular Science Invention Award
Toronto snowmobile racer Shawn Watling has won the Popular Science Invention Award for designing a snowmobile track powered by a rearward axle. Watling modeled his current prototype machine in Dassault Systèmes' SolidWorks software and uses SolidWorks Simulation software for stress and motion analysis.
Burrtech Seeks Users for Document Transfer Software Efficiency Study
Burrtech, the developer of the eTransmittal document transfer and tracking tool, will award three AEC companies free use of eTransmittal for one year. Interested companies must complete a two-page application by August 2, 2010.
Korea's TTA Awards Quality Certification to Rapidform Scanning Software
INUS Technology's Rapidform XOR 3D scanning software has received a "GOOD Software" certification from Korea's Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA). The standardization development organization tests and certifies telecom and IT-related software based on international software quality standards.
