July Hot Tip Harry Tips

This week, Cadalyst Tips & Tools Weekly brings you a terrific collection of tips from Hot Tip Harry.

Hot Tip Harry Needs Your AutoCAD Code!
Cadalyst's Hot Tip Harry (aka R. K. McSwain) is on the lookout for the latest and greatest customized routines and hatch patterns for AutoCAD. Exercise your programming prowess and submit the results to harry@cadalyst.com. If Harry accepts your tip for publication, you'll receive $25 to spend in the Cadalyst Store. Review our tip submission guidelines and send your code today!

Perform Dynamic Offsets on Multiple Objects
Lee McDonnell shares a terrific routine that allows you to perform dynamic offsets in AutoCAD drawings. Using this routine, you can offset multiple objects at once and visually select the offset distance while viewing the results in real time. View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Object Information in Real Time
And another helpful tip from Lee McDonnell! DInfo is a very complex LISP routine that provides real-time feedback about objects in an AutoCAD drawing as the cursor moves over them. View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Enclose Circles with Tangent Lines
Lee McDonnell has also contributed an AutoCAD routine that constructs tangent lines between two or more circles. View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Automatically Draw Pipe
J.D. Henman is back with another nice routine; he has supplied the LISP code and a menu file for drawing pipe in AutoCAD of various schedules and diameters. View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Quickly Navigate through 3D Views
Mike Quillen has submitted a couple of script files to help with 3D view navigation. As a reminder, script files are simply command strings stored in an ASCII file, and you load them using the Script command. View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Set Proper Variables as You Close Drawings
Frequent tipster Leonid Nemirovsky has come up with a short LISP routine that he uses to ensure his AutoCAD drawings are set properly when closed. This routine will switch to paper space, set a few variables, then save the drawing and close it. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
