Pfeiffer Publishes Benchmark Reports for Maya, 3ds Max
Autodesk has announced the publication of four research reports from technology research institute Pfeiffer Consulting that quantify performance, productivity, and efficiency gains of Autodesk Maya 2011 and Autodesk 3ds Max 2011 software over earlier versions. The reports include ROI studies and user-workflow productivity studies.
Khronos Releases Updated OpenGL Specification
Industry consortium the Khronos Group has announced the immediate release of the OpenGL 4.1 specification, the sixth update to the OpenGL specification in two years. This version of the royalty-free specification maintains full backwards compatibility, and integrates OpenGL ES (embedded systems) functionality for desktop and mobile platform portability.

Ideate, an Autodesk solutions provider, is offering a free 30-day trial of the 2011 release of Ideate Explorer for Revit. The Ideate-developed add-on gives Revit 2011 users the ability to search, filter, and finish more than 10,000 building elements in a Revit building information model (BIM).
StudioGPU Launches Student Pricing Program for MachStudio Pro
Software developer StudioGPU's nonlinear real-time 3D workflow and rendering software MachStudio Pro is now available at educational pricing to qualified students. MachStudio Pro is specially priced at $499, and the software bundled with AMD's ATI FirePro V7800 workstation graphics card is $999. The company also offers a free full-featured MachStudio Pro 30-day trial.
Autodesk Creation Suites Provide 40% Savings on 3D Software
Autodesk has introduced Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suites Premium, incorporating tools for 3D modeling, digital sculpting, texture painting, animation, effects, rendering, and compositing. The suites provide savings of more than 40% when compared with purchasing the software separately.
