Copy Xrefs Between Drawings
Frequent tipster Leonid Nemirovsky gives us an easy way to transfer or copy xrefed files from one AutoCAD drawing to another. "If there are one or more xref drawings attached in a file (even with the same insertion point), you can select them, then press Ctrl + C (or Copy, from the Edit pull-down menu) to copy them to the clipboard." Revit Tip: Customize Keyboard Shortcuts
Electrical Engineer Steve Ragan observes that Revit Architecture 2011 and Revit MEP 2011 provide a convenient way to customize keyboard shortcuts. "With Revit open, just type KS and the Keyboard Shortcut Editor opens. Here you can easily add, remove, or change keyboard shortcuts for frequently used commands." According to the company, the Asia-Pacific manufacturing market has been maintaining its demand for CAD software despite the recent economic downturn. Also, many low-cost design houses have appeared, increasing competition and prompting global players to lower their software prices.
CIMdata Releases 2010 PLM Market Analysis Report
Consulting and research firm CIMdata has published its CIMdata 2010 PLM Market Analysis Report ($5,000), which analyzes major trends and issues in the product lifecycle management (PLM) market. Ken Amann, CIMdata Director of Research said, "While the market declined 10% during 2009, we saw definite improvement during the latter half of the year. That trend has continued into 2010."

The facility that houses Autodesk's East Coast headquarters has received 13 industry awards in recognition of its design and collaborative building process. The Massachusetts building is certified LEED Commercial Interior Platinum and LEED Core & Shell Gold. It is also New England's first example of 100% integrated project delivery (IPD).

Autodesk has announced the expanded availability of its Associate Certification exam to 165 countries through an alliance with Pearson VUE Testing Centers, a provider of global computer-based services.

The latest version of the Cadalyst Benchmark Test, C2011 v5.3b, is available for free download at cadalyst.com/benchmark. Developed by Art Liddle, a former editor of Cadalyst magazine, the Cadalyst benchmark is designed to test and compare the performance of systems running AutoCAD. The latest version includes minor adjustments to ensure proper operation with AutoCAD 2011, but can be used with versions dating back to 2000. The test supports full, basic AutoCAD only. Full details are included in the ReadMe file that accompanies the download.
