This Week's Software Tips
The First Tips of 2011
Start the new year off right — resolve to share your time-saving tips with the CAD community! Use the "Submit Tip" button below to share your tips for using AutoCAD (or any other CAD software tool) more effectively and efficiently. If we publish your tip, you'll earn a gift card you can use to purchase a T-shirt or other prizes in the Cadalyst Store.
Change Text Orientation
Tipster Bob McCue describes a way to align your text objects with a line or other object in AutoCAD. "Orienting text to a line or an object is simple with the TOrient command. The text will orient to that line about its insertion point; the insertion point will not change." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Plot Raster Images
Hayden Clarke sends us a tip about some of the system variables in AutoCAD that influence the way it handles the plotting of raster images. "This is a tip for printing drawings with high-resolution images or multiple aerial photographs. Changing these settings made a considerable difference when we plotted a current job with numerous aerials attached." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Custom Rotate and Cleanup Commands
Tipster Michael Chilson shares some command macros that he uses to reduce the number of clicks in his day-to-day AutoCAD work. As tip reviewer Brian Benton says, "Anything that can reduce the number of your daily clicks and picks is a good thing! Making custom commands isn't that tricky, and these are two good examples." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
