This Week's Software Tips
Is There a Mouse in Your House?
It's been some time since we asked readers to share their favorite pointing device, so it's time for an update. What navigational device do you use with AutoCAD? Why do you think it's the best choice? Use the "Submit Tip" button below to send us your mousey tips, so we can pass them along to the community.
From Dimensions to Dimensional Constraints
Tipster Danny Korem uses parametric constraints in AutoCAD to assist his design process. "At first, associative dimensioning dealt with defpoints, then the associativity created a link between the object and the dimension. Now one can transform an associative dimension into a parametric one." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Export Drawings to PDF/DWF
Danny Korem also shares an easy method for creating DWF and PDF files of AutoCAD drawings. "When the job is ready for deployment, go to the Export to DWF/PDF panel in the Output ribbon. Select the file format (DWF, DWFx, or PDF)." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Change One Leader in a Multileader
Senior Structural Technician and CAD Coordinator Gareth Spencer shows us how to change the visual display features of individual leaders in an AutoCAD multileader. "I was setting up multileaders on my company's template file when I came across a way to change the leader type, color, linetype, line weight, arrowhead, and size on each individual leader leg." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Decrease PDF File Size
Tipster Mike Kurent needs PDF files to be smaller, for many reasons. "Archiving drawings is very important," says tip reviewer Brian Benton. "If you aren't doing this already, you should consider it." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
