This Week's Software Tips
Do You Love the Golden Oldies?
Is there a classic tip that you're still using today? Use "Submit Tip" button below to tell us about your favorites from the past, so we can tell your fellow CAD users how wonderful they are!
The Best Mouse for CAD Users
As a CAD user, you rely heavily on your mouse — or trackball, or tablet — to interact with your software and get the job done. If you're in the market for a new mouse, this information might make that important decision a little simpler. Many thanks to our readers who shared advice and tips about their favorite pointing devices! View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Change Geometry without Editing It
Tipster Danny Korem sends us a tip about using parametric constraints in AutoCAD to help edit your linework. "When you need to edit geometry (that's what we do 70% of the time), try to implement the parametric features. I love them!" View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Start AutoCAD Files from Your Desktop
Tipster Ron Bullions shares with us a method he uses to gain quicker access to his AutoCAD files from his desktop. "Working on a large project with hundreds of drawings in various subdirectories can be frustrating. Networks can be slow, and it often takes several minutes for a list of drawings to generate on the screen. I am usually only working on a few of those listed." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Benefits to Keeping Drawing1.dwg Open
Frequent tipster Leonid Nemirovsky provides us with an AutoCAD tip that suggests several uses for the Drawing1.dwg feature. "I noticed while working with other CAD users (both technicians and engineers) that about half of them don't use Drawing1.dwg. I personally prefer to have it open, as I use it extensively for various tasks." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
