This Week's Software Tips
Make the Most of Your Summer Vacation!
The beach, fireworks, picnics ... when you're making a list of your summertime favorites, don't forget the tips! Take a few minutes to share your tips — for AutoCAD or any other CAD software tool — with your fellow CAD users. If we publish your tip, you'll earn a gift card you can use toward a T-shirt or other prizes in the Cadalyst Store. Use the "Submit Tip" button below to send us your tip today!
Duplicate Objects with AddSelected
Don Bentz shares a tip about the AutoCAD command AddSelected. "One of my favorite new commands that has been added in the past few releases is AddSelected. You can select an object, then right-click (make sure your right-click shortcut menus are turned on) and choose Add Selected from the pull-down list." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Copy Objects between Open Files
Frequent tipster Leonid Nemirovsky shares a way to copy objects between open AutoCAD files. "This method will work across open files, multiple instances of AutoCAD, and even in the same drawing tab," said Cadalyst Tip Reviewer Brian Benton. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Edit in the Maximized Viewport Environment
Frequent tipster Danny Korem discusses his preferred working environment for editing AutoCAD drawings in paper space. "What would be the best place to work: Is it model space? Is it paper space? The answer is probably neither. Personally, I find the Maximize Viewport setting the best place to work." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Review Cadalyst's Tip Submission Guidelines, then Submit Your Tip for your favorite CAD software. If we publish your tip, you'll earn a gift card you can use to purchase a T-shirt or other prizes in the Cadalyst Store. Please remember to submit only code and other tips that are your original work (or provide the original source so we can include proper credit) and to tell us which software version you use.
By submitting code, you grant Cadalyst the right to print and distribute your code in print, digitally, and by other means. Cadalyst and individual authors retain all rights to the code; published code is not to be used for commercial purposes.
