This Week's Software Tips

Hot Tip Harry Is Looking for LISP
Hot Tip Harry is always keeping an eye out for the best CAD code! Use the "Submit Tip" button below to send us your AutoLISP routines. If we publish your tip, you'll earn a $25 gift card you can use to purchase a T-shirt or other prizes in the Cadalyst Store.

Print Your Whole Title Block
Tipster C. Frank Kellogg shares a method for making sure your AutoCAD drawings print fully. "Getting your drawings to print correctly is one of the most important aspects of a CAD user's job," commented Cadalyst Tip Reviewer Brian Benton. "Even if you create the most perfect design ever, if you can't present that information to your client (typically in printed form), then your design is worthless. Printing is that important." View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Adjust Snap Behavior with the Legacy Option
Frequent tipster Danny Korem shares a tip about setting up the AutoCAD 2013 Snap functionality in a way that makes using it more comfortable. "I've been using AutoCAD for some time, but it's only since adopting AutoCAD 2013 that I have finally convinced myself to use the Snap functionality." View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Use AttIn and AttOut to Modify Attributed Block Information
Nicholas Thompson explains how to use AutoCAD Express Tools to populate attributes in blocks easily. "I use Express Tools for extracting information from attributes, editing it in Excel, and reimporting it. This can be done for any attributed block, but I tend to use it to place bills of material (BOM) on the drawing." View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Clickable Items in the Command Line in AutoCAD 2013
Cadalyst Tip Reviewer Brian Benton shared a tip about a new feature added to AutoCAD 2013: clickable items in the Command line. "AutoCAD 2013 made a change to the Command line. Users can now click the options that are available for specific commands." View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Submit Your Tip

Review Cadalyst's Tip Submission Guidelines, then Submit Your Tip for your favorite CAD software. If we publish your tip, you'll earn a gift card you can use to purchase a T-shirt or other prizes in the Cadalyst Store.
