This Week's Software Tips
Tips for the Holidays
Feeling generous this time of year? Why not take a few minutes to share your tips — for AutoCAD or any other CAD software tool — with your fellow CAD users. And when you give, you'll also receive: If we publish your tip, you'll earn a gift card you can use toward a T-shirt or other prizes in the Cadalyst Store. Use the "Submit Tip" button below to send us your tip today!
Add a Multileader to Existing Multiline Text
Tipster Michael Miklaszewicz explains how to add a multileader to existing multiline text in AutoCAD and its verticals. "This trick doesn't really add a leader to the text, but rather it adds the text to a leader that you create," explained Cadalyst Tip Reviewer Brian Benton. "Regardless, it's a good trick and is very easy to do. Multileaders are great tools in AutoCAD." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Paper Space Tabs Have Many Uses
Frequent tipster Danny Korem recommends using paper space layouts in AutoCAD to help automate publishing and other tasks. "When AutoCAD 11 was released, we met paper space for the first time. Before that, the working area was a single layout. Nowadays, we have (in theory) an unlimited number of layouts." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Import Layouts from Templates
In his second tip this week, Danny Korem explains how to create a new AutoCAD layout tab from an existing one. "To import a layout from a template, right-click on any layout tab and select the From Template option. You can choose to import from a DWG/DWT file, or another file type." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Review Cadalyst's Tip Submission Guidelines, then Submit Your Tip for your favorite CAD software. If we publish your tip, you'll earn a gift card you can use to purchase a T-shirt or other prizes in the Cadalyst Store. Please remember to submit only code and other tips that are your original work (or provide the original source so we can include proper credit) and to tell us which software version you use.
By submitting code, you grant Cadalyst the right to print and distribute your code in print, digitally, and by other means. Cadalyst and individual authors retain all rights to the code; published code is not to be used for commercial purposes.
