This Week's Software Tips

Tips for the Holidays
Feeling generous this time of year? Why not take a few minutes to share your tips — for AutoCAD or any other CAD software tool — with your fellow CAD users. And when you give, you'll also receive: If we publish your tip, you'll earn a gift card you can use toward a T-shirt or other prizes in the Cadalyst Store. Use the "Submit Tip" button below to send us your tip today!

Create a Dynamic Block for a Labeled Bracket
Dean Culver has created a dynamic block in AutoCAD for a labeled bracket. "The bracket is a dynamic block that is inserted, then rotated to the right, left, top, or bottom using AutoCAD's normal Rotate command." View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Keep All Information inside the Border
Tipster Maria Tzanetakou shares a trick she uses to help define a model space work area in AutoCAD. "This can be a very helpful trick when many people work on the same file. It can also help new AutoCAD users understand how paper space and viewports work," said Cadalyst Tip Reviewer Brian Benton. View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Shortcut to Rotate Command Angle Input
Leon Joy shares a tidbit he discovered about angle rotations in AutoCAD. "When I was performing a Rotate command, I mistakenly typed an N at the prompt for an angle to rotate. The Rotate command worked without an error." View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Automate Matchline Numbering for Drawings
Drafter Rion L'Ecluse sent a tip for automating your "See Sheet X" notes in AutoCAD. "I use this tip for all AutoCAD versions that contain Sheet Set Manager. This is a method for setting up automatic matchline numbering for a civil engineering PS&E (plans, specifications, and estimates) plan set." View the complete tip and post your feedback.

Submit Your Tip

Review Cadalyst's Tip Submission Guidelines, then Submit Your Tip for your favorite CAD software. If we publish your tip, you'll earn a gift card you can use to purchase a T-shirt or other prizes in the Cadalyst Store.
