This Week's Software Tips
Win Double the Prize Payments for Your August Tips!
Tips & Tools Weekly may be going on vacation, but this month is a great time to submit your tips for AutoCAD and other CAD tools. Tips that are submitted between now and August 31, pass inspection, and are published, will earn double the normal gift card amounts. That means you can earn a $30 card for tips published in Tips & Tools Weekly, and a $50 card for Hot Tip Harry LISP tips! You can use the gift card toward a T-shirt or other prizes in the Cadalyst Store. Use the "Submit Tip" button below to send us your tip today! This promotion is limited to a maximum of three tips per person.
Get the Most out of the XClip Command
Don Bentz shares an easy way to get referenced files or blocks to display specific parts inside AutoCAD. "Many users are familiar with the XClip command, and use it to clip xrefs. Some users, however, may not be aware that the command works on any type of block, not just xrefs." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Count Your Parking Spaces
Tipster Timothy J. Harlow discusses a method he uses to count parking spaces for his projects in AutoCAD. "It's amazing how difficult it can be to count parking places," commented Cadalyst tip reviewer Brian Benton. "This tipster's method may sound complicated, but it works." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Edit Attributes Quickly
Cadalyst tip reviewer Brian Benton shares a tip that will help you edit AutoCAD block attribute text objects without opening the attribute editor window. "We all have to edit title blocks or other text objects that are in a block. If there are many lines of text, it can be difficult to find the exact one you need to change." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Review Cadalyst's Tip Submission Guidelines, then Submit Your Tip for your favorite CAD software. Be sure to tell us which software version you use. If we publish your tip, you'll earn a gift card you can use to purchase a T-shirt or other prizes in the Cadalyst Store. Please submit only tips or code that are your original work. By submitting code, you grant Cadalyst the right to print and distribute your tip in print, digitally, and by other means. Cadalyst and individual authors retain all rights to submitted tips.
By submitting code, you agree that your code can be reused as-is or modified by other users in conjunction with AutoCAD or other software programs to gain efficiencies in that software for professional or personal use, and that your code can be shared freely among users. Users do not have the right to republish code in any manner or format (such as on a blog web site or in a printed document) for personal or commercial gain without written permission from Cadalyst and the original author.
