Video Tip: AutoCAD’s In-Canvas Viewport Controls, Part 2
If you work in 3D, you should be using AutoCAD’s in-canvas viewport controls to quickly navigate around your drawing. SPEC/GWPG Releases Professional Workstation Benchmark
SPEC/GWPG (SPEC's Graphics and Workstation Performance Group, made up of vendors such as AMD, Dell, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Lenovo, NEC, and NVIDIA) has released SPECwpc v1.0 (free for noncommercial users; $5,000 for commercial entities). The new benchmark measures more than 30 workloads for testing CPU, graphics, input/output, and memory bandwidth.

New Version of ProgeCAD Professional Available for Free Trial
ProgeCAD has released progeCAD 2014 Professional, a general-purpose, DWG/DXF-native CAD application based on IntelliCAD technology. Among the new features are 3D PDF export, the EasyArch 3D plug-in, and the hatch trim command. The software reportedly integrates with Windows 8.1, 8, XP, and 7. Potential users can register to download a 30-day trial version.
LizardTech Offers Free Trial of Express Server v9
A free trial of Express Server v9 is available from geospatial software provider LizardTech. The newly launched version of the image-delivery software for compressed raster imagery comes equipped with ExpressZip — an open-source, customizable web application for exporting imagery from a web browser.
KeyShot 3D Now Integrated into IronCAD
Luxion, a developer of 3D rendering and lighting simulations, announced that its KeyShot 3D rendering and animation software has been included free in the IronCAD 2014 suite of products. Users reportedly can send IronCAD data directly to KeyShot from within IronCAD Solutions to create realistic rendering images. A free 30-day trial of the full IronCAD suite is available.

Annual 3D Congress Issues Second Call for Speakers
Organizers of 3DCIC (the 3D Collaboration and Interoperability Congress) have issued a second call for speakers for the 2014 event, to be held May 28–30 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Anyone interested in speaking at the event should e-mail the speaker's name, title, and role, plus a short description of the proposed presentation, to David Prawel at Longview Advisors by February 15, 2014.
CMSC Call for Papers Continues Through March 14, 2014
The Coordinate Metrology Society will accept presentation proposals until March 14, 2014, for the Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference, to be held in North Charleston, South Carolina, July 21–25. Presentation guidelines and instructions are posted online. Those whose abstracts are accepted will be notified on April 4.

AEC: Chief Architect for Mac
Chief Architect Software has released its professional design software for the Mac. Chief Architect X6 products include Chief Architect Premier ($2,695) for full residential and light commercial design; Chief Architect Interiors ($1,995) for kitchen and bath and interior design; and Chief Architect Lite ($1,995), which is geared toward drafters. A free trial version is available.
