VariCAD Offers Free CAD Viewer and Free Trial of 3D/2D MCAD Software
VariCAD is offering a free trial of a new version of its 3D/2D mechanical CAD system, VariCAD 2016-1.03. The software features new methods of creation or editing of solids defined by profile sketching; more convenient methods of insertion of tools for holes, cuttings, threads, or grooves; new features for 2D stretching, and more. Autodesk Launches AEC Awards Program
Expanding on its sponsorship of the "Excellence in Infrastructure" competition, Autodesk has announced the new AEC Excellence Awards, a competition embracing building and construction as well as infrastructure. The program is accepting submissions through June 30. Finalists will be announced in August, and winners will be honored at an awards ceremony at Autodesk University in Las Vegas, in November 2016.

Vectorworks Sponsors Young Talent Architecture Award
The inaugural Young Talent Architecture Award (YTAA) is now accepting registrations. To be eligible, schools within Europe must register and nominate their students' best capstone projects from the 2015–2016 academic year by July 15, 2016. Nine finalists will receive a certificate and a Vectorworks Designer with Renderworks software license; three winners will receive €5,000, a laptop, and the opportunity to have their design displayed at the EUMiesAward exhibition.

CAD Society Honors Aras CEO Peter Schroer
The CAD Society has recognized Peter Schroer, Aras CEO and founder, with its 2016 Leadership Award for demonstrating leadership by successfully introducing a unique and disruptive open-source format into the enterprise product lifecycle management (PLM) market. The CAD Society Awards are presented annually at the Conference On the Future of Engineering Software (COFES).

Workstations: HP Z1 G3
The HP Z1 G3 (starting at $1498) is an all-in-one workstation, meaning there is no separate tower unit; everything is contained within the monitor component. The Z1 G3 features a 23.6" diagonal anti-glare UHD 4K display, sixth-generation Intel Xeon quad-core or Intel Core processors, up to 64 GB of DDR4 2,133-MHz ECC memory, NVIDIA Quadro professional graphics, and choice of Windows 10 Pro, Windows 7, or Linux operating systems.

Workstations: HP RGS Receiver for Mac
HP's new receiver software for Apple Mac OS X uses HP Remote Graphics Software (RGS) to give Mac users access to their HP Z workstations. HP RGS enables engineers and other Z owners to securely use the performance, files, and applications on their HP workstation, even when they are away from that workstation. HP RGS is free for Z customers, or can be purchased for use on supported, non-HP hardware.

Graphics Cards: AMD FirePro W9100 32GB
AMD reports that a new version of its FirePro W9100 graphics card is the world's first workstation graphics card with 32 GB of memory support for large asset workflows with creative applications. With a 512-bit memory interface and 320 GB/s of memory bandwidth, users can edit 4K video, layer in multiple effects and color correct, or load extremely large assemblies and data sets and manipulate them in real time.

Plant Design: M4 ISO Isometrics for PTC Creo Piping
CAD Schroer's solution for the creation of pipeline isometrics is integrated into Creo. It facilitates the automatic creation of unscaled piping isometric drawings from Creo 3D geometric data. A free trial is available from CAD Schroer.
