GlobalSpec, Aras Team Up to Deliver Web-based Part Search Services12 Feb, 2009
Users of Aras Innovator PLM software will have access to GlobalSpec search technology.
GlobalSpec, a search engine, information services, and e-publishing company, entered into a partnership with Aras Corporation, a Microsoft enterprise open-source software provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions.
Through this relationship, Aras users reportedly can search for products, parts, components, and services within the Aras solution for PLM by specification and access the entire GlobalSpec library of more than 180 million searchable product specs in 2.3 million product families from over 24,000 searchable supplier catalogs. Additionally, users will have access to The Engineering Web, more than 250 million Web pages consisting of engineering and technical content powered by GlobalSpec.
"Through our partnership with Aras, we are providing engineering professionals with access to the power of GlobalSpec search and information services inside their PLM environment," said Jeffrey Killeen, chairman and CEO of GlobalSpec. "This is a game-changing event."
"GlobalSpec has the most comprehensive database of products, suppliers, and technical information on the planet and now everything is instantly accessible to companies using Aras," said Aras president and chairman Peter Schroer. "Because Aras is the most advanced SOA for PLM connecting into the GlobalSpec search services in the cloud was simple, seamless, and completely transparent to end users."
