Hedgehog Day in the Office

Did you know that before the overweight lazy Pennsylvania groundhog predicted when spring would arrive (poor accuracy record btw), there was the hedgehog? Its true, it was actually Hedgehog Day before it was ever Groundhog Day.

Groundhog Day: is a popular tradition celebrated in the United States and Canada on February 2. It derives from the Pennsylvania Dutch superstition that if a groundhog emerging from its burrow on this day sees a shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its den and winter will persist for six more weeks, and if he does not, due to cloudiness, spring season will arrive early.”

In Portland Oregon, our local zoo has been celebrating this fun fact with their cute hedgies. Six more weeks of winter? Let's see what FuFu says about that

In the local Autodesk office, Michelle Stone has a sweet hedgehog named Hermione. Hermione visited the office today for Hedgehogs Day so I could see if she noticed her shadow in the interest of science and also a bad case of spring fever.

Hermione saw her shadow, six more weeks of winter.  week could use the winter weather for water. Our winter in the Pacific Northwest has been so unseasonably warm and lacking much snow in the mountains this year.
