Piranesi Adds Modo Support with Free Plug-In

30 Jul, 2008

EPix file exporter can be downloaded at no charge from the company's Web site.

Information Software International announced today that the company has developed an EPix file exporter that enables users of Luxology's modo 302 polygon/subdivision surface modeling software to create hand-rendered presentations of their 3D models with Piranesi 3D painting technology. The plug-in is available as a free download from Piranesi Web site.

"Piranesi is one of the cooler applications for giving a hand-rendered look to your 3D model with a minimum of fuss," said Bob Bennett, modo vice-president of marketing. "Many times that is exactly what you want to deliver to your AEC clients, particularly in the early stages of a project. This software would appear to be a good match for use alongside modo, and Piranesi runs on both the Mac and PC, just like modo does."

modo 302 reportedly allows users to render to Piranesi's EPix file format in which every pixel has a depth and material value as well as a color. Piranesi can quickly paint in textures and details such as people, furniture, or plants.
