Autodesk Releases AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT 201721 Mar, 2016 By: Cadalyst Staff
New release includes PDF import tools and bundles AutoCAD 360 Pro mobile app with AutoCAD.
Smart Centerlines/Center Marks: Creating and editing centerlines and center marks is now faster and more intuitive, Autodesk reports. The Centerline tool creates centerline geometry of a specified linetype in association with selected lines and polylines. The Center Mark tool creates an associative center mark at the center of a selected circle, arc, or polygonal arc. When users move associated objects, the centerlines and center marks update accordingly.
AutoCAD 2017 offers simplified creation and editing of centerlines and center marks.
Customization: The new Migrate Custom Settings tool helps users transfer over their custom settings and files from a previous release to AutoCAD 2017. It detects and clearly identifies customized settings, enabling users to choose which ones they wish to migrate.
Graphics Improvements: Autodesk reports continued improvement in the performance and fidelity of AutoCAD’s 2D and 3D graphics, and that 3D graphics stability has been “greatly improved.” To experience the increase, users need to have a DirectX 11-capable graphics card, and hardware acceleration turned on.
AutoCAD 360 Pro: The Pro version of this mobile app for phones and tablets, which previously cost $49.99 per year, is now included when users subscribe to AutoCAD. Pro offers more features than the standard AutoCAD 360 app; in addition to viewing, creating, editing, and sharing AutoCAD drawings, 360 Pro users can access to 25 GB of storage capacity, open files up to 30 MB in size, use extended annotation and layer management tools, and more. (This benefit is not available to AutoCAD customers on a maintenance plan or a perpetual license.)
License Manager: AutoCAD 2017 introduces a new License Manager to simplify transitions between license types and save users’ work when a network license loses connection with the License Manager. A new option in the Infocenter menu provides access to the License Manager, where users can view information about the software license and installed plug-ins, add-ons, and extensions.
