A week ago, last Monday evening I presented at a local meetup group Design Reality that was for an AEC focused XR event. My goal was to expand the awareness of AR/VR beyond the 3D rendered images commonly used in pre-construction design reviews and into what I see as a sweet spot in AEC construction.

Linking Engineering and Philanthropy (LEAP) 2018

OllyThe acronym of my Autodesk division, Office of the CTO “OCTO” was the complex shape inspiration for an octopus named Olly. Olly was created by additive 3D printing metal and then subtractively machining it.

What a truly amazing event Autodesk’s Accelerate 2018 was, and I will be attending again next year for sure. The attendees in attendance, the presentations, the deep quality conversations, the networking, the Autodesk Toronto office in MaRS District were all top notch.

Sweet Layover Last Evening

On my flight back to my Portland Oregon home from Toronto I had a 55 minute layover in Salt Lake City. My kids live near there including my youngest, my amazing 17 year old daughter. My sweet daughter drove to the airport and waited outside security just to see her dad. Awe, that made my week.
