100 Plus Hatch Pattern Library V10-365 Hatch Patterns for AutoCAD31 May, 2005 By: Ron LaFon
Watson h. Kilbourne at CompugraphX recently released v10 of his 100 Plus Hatch Pattern Library for use with AutoCAD Release 14 through 2006, AutoCAD LT 2006 and Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2006. Version 10 contains 365 hatch patterns furnished as separate PAT files for use with the AutoCAD custom hatch pattern option. A partial menu file (MNU) is supplied with the library. The 20-frame pull-down icon menu includes the pattern names listed on an easy-to-use menu that is accessed via a vertical slider. The 365 slides required to display the patterns in the menu are supplied in a slide library.

New in this release are ten additional architectural patterns and fifteen geologic patterns intended for use with USCS (Unified Soil Classification System) drawings. The library includes a variety of architectural, geologic and other useful hatch patterns. Five AutoCAD drawings show all of the hatch patterns, as well as printed representations of all hatch patterns by name.
The program ships on a CD-ROM that is very reasonably priced at $79 (plus shipping and handling; California residents must add sales tax). A single license of the 100 Plus Hatch Pattern Library allows its use on one workstation; ordering two copies licenses the library for four workstations, with additional licensing options available.
CompugraphXs 100 Plus Hatch Pattern Library v10 presents icon menus, making it easy to choose exactly which hatch pattern to use.
Installation is simple and straightforward, with instructions included in print form and in a Microsoft Word document on the CD-ROM. A Hatch directory on the CD-ROM must be copied to your hard disk, preferably to the root drive to help keep the hatch pattern description text brief. This directory then must be added to the AutoCAD search path, and the supplemental menu (a MNU file) loaded using the AutoCAD Menuload command. AutoCAD 2006 automatically creates a CUI file. Once this is accomplished, a top-level menu bar for 100 Plus appears, and the drop-down menu is fully accessible.
The pull-down menu provides options for accessing the same Boundary Hatch menu found in the AutoCAD Draw menu and the CompugraphX AEC hatch patterns. These are displayed twenty icons at a time with a slider control. Users can double-click on the name of the icon to invoke the Hatch command and the name of the picked hatch pattern. Remaining choices from the pull-down menu access the CompugraphX geologic and soil hatch patterns. Users can add additional custom hatch patterns to the Hatch folder on the hard disk. Users of recent versions of AutoCAD, LT and Architectural Desktop can add frequently used hatch patterns to the tool palette.
See examples and order the program at www.compugraphx.com. These are very high-quality hatch patterns with great supporting materials and documentation. At this low price, they're a great bargain. I highly recommend this product to anyone who needs a good assortment of hatches.
