Autodesk Acquires c-plan AG

31 Jul, 2005 By: Scottie Barnes

Autodesk's Infrastructure Solutions Division announced in July that it has completed the acquisition of c-plan AG, worth approximately $18 million plus networking capital.

Autodesk announced its plan to acquire the company -- a provider of open-standard GIS throughout central Europe -- in May. The acquisition expands Autodesk's technology portfolio and further accelerates the development of third-party applications on Autodesk Map 3D and Autodesk MapGuide. According to the company, it also further underscores Autodesk's commitment to open standards-based geospatial data-management solutions.

With offices in Switzerland and Germany, c-plan develops, sells, and implements geospatial data-management solutions using the TOPOBASE geospatial framework. The TOPOBASE product, based on Autodesk and Oracle Spatial database technology, makes use of international geospatial standards and is implemented by more than 500 companies.
