How can I enforce CAD standards?

Robert Green replies: If you make CAD standards all about saving money, then enforcement of CAD standards will also be about saving money. Using this principle will help you get all the senior managers, project managers, and accounting staff on your side with respect to standards enforcement.

Once following CAD standards is viewed as all about savings, when users refuse to follow standards they're simply wasting the company's money. Now, how hard do you think it will be to get your management to help you enforce CAD standards once they understand the cost ramifications?

You can yell, you can scream, you can plead, you can cajole, but nothing makes users follow CAD standards as well as knowing that upper-level management will enforce the standards. And nothing makes that happen better than you preaching the connection between standards and savings. Try it!
