Autodesk Completes Acquisition of Hanna Strategies

Autodesk to combine its existing Shanghai development center with Hanna Strategies' operations to create the Autodesk China Research and Development Center.


Autodesk has completed the acquisition of Hanna Strategies, a software development firm with offices in Shanghai, Atlanta, and Pune, India.

Autodesk states that the acquisition will support the company's developments of new digital design software technology. Specific terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"The acquisition of Hanna Strategies supports the Autodesk goal of expanding our global engineering and software development programs and to continue delivering leading software design products to our customers worldwide. Merging our talented development teams in Shanghai strengthens Autodesk engineering operations and provides us with internal efficiencies and increases our capacities," said Carl Bass, president and CEO of Autodesk.

The Autodesk development center in Shanghai will combine the operations of Hanna and Autodesk and will be named the Autodesk China Research and Development Center (ACRD).

"Autodesk has operated in China since 1994 and is committed to the continued development of Autodesk staff and operations there," added Bass. "We're also expanding our work in engineering education in China, and look forward to continuing our commitment to the country and its students."

As part of the acquisition, Hanna Strategies President Samir Hanna will join Autodesk as a vice-president in the Manufacturing Solutions division. Chien-Ming Huang, Hanna Strategies' general manager, will become vice-president at the ACRD.
