Cadalyst Announces First Hot Tip Harry Challenge 2006 Winner

2 Nov, 2006

AutoCAD Tipster Charles Allred Wins Trip to Autodesk University 2006

NEWTON, Mass., November 3, 2006 – Cadalyst, the leading publication devoted to computer-aided design and related technologies, today unveiled the winner of a trip to Autodesk University 2006, the first of two grand prizes to be awarded in its Hot Tip Harry 2006 contest. Charles Allred, one of many contributors to Cadalyst’s Hot Tip Harry column, was awarded airfare, lodging and a week-long pass Autodesk University, to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, November 27- December 1, 2006.

As part of a year-long campaign to encourage CAD users to share AutoLISP and VBA code with their peers online at Cadalyst.com, authors of AutoCAD tips published in the Hot Tip Harry column in 2006 were automatically entered into two drawings, one for a trip to Autodesk University and the second for a copy of AutoCAD ® 2007 software.  Editors of Cadalyst magazine are also giving away official Cadalyst t-shirts to the authors of tips published this year and awarding $100 gift cards to Harry's pick of top tip each month.

Allred, employed at Wesko Detailers, Inc., in Murray, Utah, currently produces shop drawings for structural steel fabrication and says he is continuouslysearching for new ways to simplify and accelerate CAD drawings.

“We are always trying to come up with ideas to make drawings faster and easier,” said Allred. ” This is how I produced my Hot Tip Harry entry.  I am pleased to be recognized for doing something that I enjoy and that challenges me every day.”

Since 1993, CAD managers and users alike have contributed to and relied on Cadalyst’s “Get the Code” LISP and VBA customization routines for AutoCAD, which are highlighted each month in the popular Hot Tip Harry column. The CAD community can easily access and download Get the Code! routines online at Cadalyst.com.

Cadalysteditors will reveal the winner of the AutoCAD ® 2007 software in December and have announced plans to continue the contest next year.
