AutoCAD tip contributor Joel Harris receives trip to Autodesk University in Las Vegas.
Cadalyst awarded a trip to Autodesk University 2008 to AutoCAD tip contributor Joel Harris. The trip is the grand prize in Cadalyst's year-long Hot Tip Harry Challenge 2008 contest.
Harris has worked for Anvil Corporation in Bellingham, Washington, for 18 years as a piping designer and technology specialist. His first introduction to AutoCAD was in 1986, when he worked for Autodesk third-party developer Synthesis. In 1989 he became an AutoCAD reseller in Bellingham and taught AutoCAD classes at Bellingham Technical College.
At Anvil, design is based primarily in AutoCAD, Harris says, and the company has a few MicroStation seats as well. “I love reading the ‘Hot Tip Harry’ tips to see if there is anything that would be of use to our AutoCAD users, or any new way of optimizing AutoCAD. The ‘Harry’ contributors are always coming up with new things, and I like to do my best to stay abreast. I also receive Cadalyst magazine and e-newsletters, and I visit the web site frequently. Whenever a colleague has questions about a particular software or current event, I go to the web site first.”
This will be Harris’ first trip to Autodesk University. “I’ve been to many other Autodesk events in the past -- trade shows, CAD Camp -- so if it is anything like those, I know AU will be fun and informative. I hope to learn a lot about the newest AutoCAD releases and the plant design verticals that Autodesk is developing.”
