HP Embeds Sprint Mobile Broadband Service in Notebook PCs

Companies will jointly market the broadband-equipped business notebooks, which include faster data speeds provided by 3G EV-DO Rev. A technology.


HP announced that it is integrating Sprint mobile broadband capabilities into several of its business notebook PCs, giving HP mobile professionals access to the Sprint U.S. mobile broadband network.

The companies will jointly market the broadband-equipped business notebooks, which reportedly include faster data speeds provided by 3G EV-DO Rev. A technology.

"HP is working with a mobility pioneer such as Sprint to further drive richer and more pervasive on-the-go computing," said Ann Avery, product manager, Commercial Notebooks - North America, Personal Systems Group, HP. "Businesses of all sizes are looking for speedy, convenient connectivity to the people and information that is most important to them, and our broad portfolio of wireless business notebooks together with the extensive speed and coverage of the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network delivers."

The HP business notebooks that will integrate Sprint Mobile Broadband service, including support for EV-DO Rev. A technology, include the following models. HP reports that additional models are expected later this year.

  • HP Compaq 2710p Notebook PC
  • HP Compaq 6510b Notebook PC
  • HP Compaq 6910p Notebook PC
  • HP Compaq 8510 series
For a limited time, customers who purchase an HP notebook that includes embedded Sprint connectivity are eligible for a free month of Sprint Mobile Broadband service when they sign up for a one- or two-year service agreement. Sprint reports that a credit check and approval are required to qualify for Sprint Mobile Broadband service, and subsequent monthly fees apply.
