NextComputing Offers Recordable Blu-Ray Drive on Mobile Workstations

13 Aug, 2008

Optical drive is available on the NextDimension Pro and Pro HD, NextDimension Evo and Evo HD, Vigor Pro SD, and the Vigor Evo HD.

NextComputing announced the availability of a Panasonic recordable Blu-ray drive on its mobile workstations. The optical drive is available in place of the internal DVD drive on all mobile computer models: the NextDimension Pro and Pro HD, NextDimension Evo and Evo HD, Vigor Pro SD, and the Vigor Evo HD.

The Blu-ray format was developed to enable recording, rewriting, and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. The format allows data to be packed more tightly and stored in less space, offering more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and holding up to 50GB on a dual-layer disc.
