Show NVIDIA Your JPEG Portfolio

4 Feb, 2008

How much do you think your renderings are worth? To NVIDIA, they may be worth quite a lot.

NVIDIA is partnering with the digital art community CGSociety to launch a series of worldwide computer art competitions throughout 2008. To enter, individuals must register with CGTalk or CGSociety.

In the "Amazing Creations" contest, which took place in January and challenged artists to capture the essence of something that could only exist in a virtual world, Vaclav Pajkrt from the Czech Republic earned the first prize with his artwork titled "Growth of Cubic Bacteria."

For the next contest, "Art Space," which runs from January 21 through March 10, NVIDIA invites people to "stand on the shoulders of giants like Frank Gehry and gaze into the far reaches of imagination and technology, [then] create the most awe inspiring architecture and landscape." The grand-prize winner will take home an NVIDIA Quadro FX 5500 PCI-E card (valued at $6,000) after sightseeing San Francisco and its surrounding regions (holiday package valued at $10,000). He or she also will have the chance to meet NVIDIA's cofounder and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang.
