Siemens PLM Software Delivers Parasolid v20

23 Jul, 2008

3D geometric modeling component software delivers enhanced functionality and extended use of symmetric multiprocessing hardware.

Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division, today announced the availability of Parasolid v20 software, the latest release of its 3D geometric modeling component software. Parasolid is a software product in the company's PLM Components suite of solutions, providing the geometric modeling foundation for many CAD/CAM/CAD applications.

Parasolid v20 includes a variety of enhancements:

  • Face delete and change functions have been extended to support more complex topologies, which is capable of significantly reducing model editing time.

  • New blend capping controls allow complex blend configurations to be constructed with fewer, simpler steps.

  • Symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) hardware can accelerate the generation of facet data for visualization and downstream applications, reducing the time needed for design validation and manufacture.

  • Blending enhancements now enable Parasolid to automatically optimize model tolerances, resulting in quality and productivity improvements across multiple operations.

"Parasolid v20 delivers a wealth of significant enhancements that address the need of manufacturing companies to model ever more complex designs with ever greater speed and efficiency," said Bruce Feldt, vice-president, Open Tools for Siemens PLM Software. "Through close cooperation with our customers, we have expanded the boundaries of our technology on a broad front. Every decision regarding Parasolid enhancement is carefully judged to deliver maximum impact to our independent software vendor customers and manufacturing users."
