Model Views in Sheet Set Manager
Tipster Ron Lohan shares a way to use model views in AutoCAD's Sheet Set Manager to create drawings. This tip tells us how to xref a file into our drawing file and set up a viewport in paper space — all in one command! There is a lot going on here, but the process is really very simple. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Customize Ribbon Panels to Increase Efficiency
Andrew Maser sends us a tip on customizing the AutoCAD ribbon to improve access to frequently used commands and tools. "I have placed my panel inside the Home 2D tab, Block References tab, Annotate tab, etc. That way, even if I'm editing a block, text, or whatever, I can still quickly snap to objects, zoom, or perform any other frequent commands I like." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Substitute Fonts in Inserted Tables
Coworkers Dallas Leinweber and Debra Maloney-Bolsinger collaborated on this method to ensure that when you insert a text object (such as a table) that uses a font that's not available, AutoCAD knows which font to use instead. The issue here is getting the font you want into the table. TrueType fonts can give you problems; using the Alternate Font setting tells AutoCAD which font to use as an alternative View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Save Time with Design Center
Kevin D. Stober shares a time-saving tip about using AutoCAD's Design Center. "Design Center is where you can transfer blocks, dimstyles, layers, layouts, linetypes, multileaderstyles, tablestyles, textstyles, and xrefs. One of the most useful tools is the layout function; it's so efficient to transfer the layout from one drawing to another in seconds." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
