This Week's Software Tips
Start Commands with a Double Click
Tipster William Work sends a time-saving tip for starting commands with two quick clicks. "Once Rollover Tooltips and Quick Properties were added to AutoCAD, it no longer seemed necessary to have the double-click action for most objects to execute the Properties command." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Set Extrusion Distance
CAD Administrator Michael O'Flaherty sent in a tip on how to measure distances and use them in the Extrude command. "The Extrude command does not have an option to select a point outside the z-axis to set the extrusion distance. By adding a dash of LISP, however, it's possible to use any two points, in any axis, to set an extrusion distance." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Senior CAD Tech James Henman shares a few small tips to help you speed things up, especially with two-letter commands. "These lines are a few of the toggles that I place in my ACADDOC.LSP file so that I can activate them with a two-letter command." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Program Keyboard and Mouse Inputs
Jamie Duncan sends us a tip to set up some mouse and keyboard inputs that can change your osnap settings on the fly. "This tip shows how to set up a Ctrl + Shift + right-click keystroke combination to restore many user settings transparently in AutoCAD Commands." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
