Use the Power of the Command Line
Russell Koenig reminds us of the power of the Command line in AutoCAD. "Virtually every AutoCAD command can be performed by typing in the Command line." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Frequent tipster Danny Korem calls our attention to the Merge Layers tool, a new feature in AutoCAD 2014 that allows users to transfer all objects on a layer to a different layer and delete the selected layer. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Define Your Company's Standard Network Folders
Maria Tzanetakou shares a tip that allows access to company standards folders when using AutoCAD. "To foster collaboration, it is a good idea to define a company's network folders within AutoCAD itself." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
May Tips from Hot Tip Harry
Hot Tip Harry, Cadalyst's mysterious purveyor of customized AutoCAD code, has dispatched another great bundle of tips from readers. View and download each of the latest tips using the links below, or get the entire May 2013 Hot Tip Harry batch at once.
Slice Up Solids
Frequent contributor Raymond Rizkallah sent in a nice little routine that contains two functions for performing a slice operation on 3D objects. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Thaw Layers by Selection
Kent Cooper is back with another nice routine. This LISP code allows you to thaw a frozen layer by selection, so you do not have to know the name or anything else about the layer. This routine also works to turn on layers that are turned off. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Convert Units for the Offset and Circle Commands
Jan Bath sends us a routine used to convert imperial to metric or vice versa, built around the Offset and/or Circle commands. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
LISP Learning Routine
Benzigar Peter submitted this routine as a learning tool for LISP novices, to demonstrate how to create simple objects and manipulate them using built-in AutoCAD commands. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Copy or Move Objects Quickly
Sam Lucido's latest routine is very simple, but it can save you some clicks when performing a move or copy. Even if you don't make use of these particular commands, this routine may lead you to build your own command shortcuts for tasks you perform frequently. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Draw a Fenceline
This routine from Robert Zipprich inserts correctly rotated blocks along existing lines to form a fenceline. You can use the supplied block, or substitute your own block name in the routine. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
