Customize Keyboard Commands in AutoCAD

Edit Individual Leaders of a Multileader
Tipster Murray Clack shares a tip on how to quickly edit individual leaders in an AutoCAD multileader object. "You cannot use the properties manager to change the arrowhead of just one leader. However, there is a keyboard trick around this." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Video Tip: Bind Xrefs with AutoLISP
Alex Borodulin of NYacad, which provides structural and miscellaneous steel detailing services and structural design and drafting, shares a video tip about using an AutoLISP command to bind xrefs. "Instead of using reference manager, it's better to use the command prompt or AutoLISP for binding xrefs."

SPECapc Releases New SolidWorks 2013 Benchmark
SPECapc (SPEC's Application Performance Characterization) has released new performance evaluation software for Dassault Systemes' SolidWorks 2013. The test, for systems running Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit platforms, includes 10 new models, each with 12 tests. SPECapc for SolidWorks 2013 is free for noncommercial users and $2,500 for commercial entities.
G2 Crowd Taps Crowd-Sourced Wisdom for Software Reviews
A new review web site for business applications, including CAD and PLM (product lifecycle management) software, promises to provide unbiased feedback for software and related services. G2 Crowd authenticates user reviews by linking each reviewer to his or her LinkedIn account. Reviewers have posted more than 10,000 ratings and reviews on the beta site.

New App Enables STEP Model Sharing between iPad and Desktop
CadFaster has released a cloud-based collaboration tool designed to simplify sharing, viewing, markup, and tracking of 3D models on mobile devices and desktops. The free version of MyCadbox for desktops and iPad provides STEP model sharing, automated model sync between PC and iPad, and sharing of 10 models at a time.

Lectra Announces Design Competition Winners
Lectra has rewarded three students at the Fashion Institute of Technology for their design collections. The grand-prize winner was D'Janau Morales. Lectra sponsored the contest, which asked students to submit a collection designed with Kaledo software. Each winner received a grant and a Kaledo license.
Ellis Furniture Named Autodesk 2012 Inventor of the Year
U.K.–based Ellis Furniture has been named Autodesk 2012 Inventor of the Year in a vote by the Autodesk Manufacturing community. Contestants are chosen from among the winners of the Inventor of the Month program, which identifies the most innovative designers and engineers who invent with Autodesk digital prototyping tools.
New Contest Solicits 3D-Printed Rocket Engine Designs
DIYROCKETS has announced a new competition, sponsored by Sunglass, that challenges entrants to design an open-source, 3D-printed rocket engine that could be used to carry nanosatellites into space. Winners will receive cash prizes, credit for 3D printing at Shapeways, and consulting from the Silicon Valley Space Center. Registration closes April 6, 2013.

Certiport Launches Revit Architecture Certification Exam
Certiport, a provider of certification exam services, announced the availability of the Autodesk Revit Architecture Certified User exam as part of the Autodesk Certified User certification program. The exams combine multiple-choice and performance-based questions to ensure students have the skills to use the building information modeling (BIM) software.
Design Visualization: KeyShot 4 Plugin for PTC Creo
With the new free KeyShot 4 plugin installed, PTC Creo users will be able to make a change to a design at any level and send those updates directly to a running session of KeyShot. The scene inside KeyShot will update automatically while maintaining all materials, animation, camera, and lighting setup, according to the company.
Workstations: GoBOXX 2720
The new GoBOXX 2720 mobile workstation from Boxx incorporates components once found only in desktop models, including an Intel Core i7 Extreme (6 core) processor (3.5 GHz), NVIDIA Quadro K5000M graphics card, a maximum of 32GB of 1600 MHz memory, three USB ports, a 7.3" 1920 x 1080 HD display, and a 2.5 SATA hard drive.
Design Visualization: LightWave 3D Group Architectural Design Bundle
A new Architectural Design Bundle ($1,545) from LightWave couples LightWave v11.5 3D modeling, animation, and rendering software with WTools3D's LWCAD v4.5 for LightWave. Registered LightWave customers can upgrade to the LightWave v11.5 and LWCAD v4.5 Architectural Design Bundle for $745 (not available for educational licenses).
Collaboration: Team Design for Cadence OrCAD
Team Design for OrCAD is integrated directly inside the OrCAD Capture interface, allowing engineers to view the history of all current and previous projects. Design team members can view project status, add new pages, download pages for editing, and upload changes into the system. OrCAD reportedly does not change the current use model for individual users.
