This Week's Software Tips
|Video Tip: Reviving AutoCAD's Forgotten Function Keys|
Maybe you’ve forgotten about them (or never learned to use them), but using your function keys to toggle important settings inside AutoCAD can really speed up your design process. With this video tip from Cadalyst and Lynn Allen, you’ll learn how to take advantage of all that the function keys have to offer. Watch the video
Control the Lasso Selection Tool
If you've installed AutoCAD 2015, you've probably seen the lasso selection method, which can sometimes initiate when you don't want it to. This tip from Levi Connolly will help you adjust its behavior to your preferences. "Another useful feature that delays the lasso feature from activating, giving you a chance to quickly use the old rectangle selection method, is to set a variable called LassoTimeThreshold." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
An Alternative to the CleanScreen Command
In this AutoCAD tip, Jim Olszewski expands on Levi Connolly's recent tip, "Unclutter Your View with the Clean Screen Command." He suggests that instead of using the CleanScreen command, you shut off all of the toolbars, etc., and save what is left as a workspace. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Inventor Tip: Reduce Part Size for Transmission
Have you ever been asked to send a very large, detailed Inventor file to a client? David Gaskill describes a way to reduce file size before transmitting large, complex parts. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
