This Week's Software Tips
Match Mtext Properties
Levi Connolly, a design engineer, explains how to use AutoCAD's match text formatting function. "This tool applies the formatting of your selected text to characters within the same mtext object. This works great in instances where I copy text from one drawing to another that might have a slight difference in formatting." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Block Count using SelectSimilar
In her work, tipster Wendy Brodeur needs to have an accurate count of special devices. "I use the SelectSimilar command in AutoCAD to accomplish this quickly and efficiently." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Use SelectSimilar to Find Layer Mishaps
In her second tip of the week, Wendy Brodeur explains how to repair layer problems. "I have a pet peeve: opening a drawing from someone else and finding that the layers are inaccurate, or even worse, nonexistent! I use the SelectSimilar command in AutoCAD to help me repair such issues. This tip is also handy for checking your own work, or projects you are overseeing, to correct instances of objects on misplaced layers." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
