This Week's Software Tips
Remove the Plot Stamp from AutoCAD Educational Files
In the past, if you saved a DWG using the educational version of AutoCAD, a plot stamp identifying the DWG as educational would be embedded in the DWG file and could not be removed — until now. Tina Stimpson shows us how to remove the plot stamp in AutoCAD 2014 or later. View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Why Does My AutoCAD UCS Icon Look Different?
If your UCS icon looks a bit odd in AutoCAD, Tina Stimpson suggests that you may be working in a different visual style, possibly unintentionally. "Although that in itself won't hurt anything, the more complex visual style could cause things to run slower than normal while you work." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Print an Excel Spreadsheet with a White Background in AutoCAD
Peggy Simpson offers this tip for printing an Excel spreadsheet in AutoCAD with a white background without linking the file. "Printing relies on many variables such as print driver, print hardware, and version of AutoCAD, etc., so it's quite possible the problem described here could affect many users." View the complete tip and post your feedback.
Review Cadalyst's Tip Submission Guidelines, then Submit Your Tip for your favorite CAD software. Be sure to tell us which software version you use. If we publish your original, previously unpublished tip, you can earn a gift card (learn more about prizes here). Please submit only tips or code that are your original work. By submitting code, you grant Cadalyst the right to print and distribute your tip in print, digitally, and by other means. Cadalyst and individual authors retain all rights to submitted tips.
By submitting code, you agree that your code can be reused as-is or modified by other users in conjunction with AutoCAD or other software programs to gain efficiencies in that software for professional or personal use, and that your code can be shared freely among users. Users do not have the right to republish code in any manner or format (such as on a blog web site or in a printed document) for personal or commercial gain without written permission from Cadalyst and the original author.
