GrabCAD recently announced that GrabCAD Workbench is now free for all users. GrabCAD Workbench includes CAD collaboration tools designed to ensure that engineers and partners can find the right CAD file, avoid duplicating work, and get input from all team members.
Power Surfacing for SolidWorks v2 Available as Free Demo or Upgrade
Power Surfacing is a plugin for SolidWorks from nPower Software. The plugin integrates subdivision surface modeling into SolidWorks, providing tools for modeling organic, freeform surfaces. Power Surfacing v2 is a free upgrade for owners of Power Surfacing v1; others can register to download a demo version.

Autodesk 2014 Inventor of the Year Voting Now Open
Members of the Autodesk Manufacturing community are being asked to select the 2014 Inventor of the Year from a dozen companies featured as 2014 monthly Autodesk Inventing the Future honorees. Voting is under way and closes March 13 at 5 p.m. Pacific time.
Thinkbox Software Opens Deadline v7.1 Beta
Thinkbox Software has launched the beta for Deadline v7.1, the company's data management solution for rendering and processing information. The software includes new features such as built-in cloud support and enhanced application support. AEC: MassMotion Flow
Software provider Oasys has launched MassMotion Flow, used to develop crowd simulations from imported CAD geometry or from scratch. The software is capable of simulating the movement of hundreds of thousands of people and holds data in a single SQL database. MassMotion Flow can be purchased or rented; a free, 30-day trial is available.
Workstations: Boxx APEXX 5
The APEXX 5 workstation (starting at $10,418) from Boxx is designed to handle rendering and simulation tasks. The basic configuration includes dual Intel Xeon 3.5 GHz processors, 32 GB DDR4-2133 RAM, one Nvidia K5200 GPU, a 240-GB solid-state drive, and 20X dual-layer DVD RW. Expansion slots can accommodate eight full-size hard drives.
