Additive Manufacturing Surpassed $5.1 Billion, Says Wohlers Report
The Wohlers Associates consulting firm has published Wohlers Report 2016 ($495), which indicates that the additive manufacturing (AM) industry, consisting of all AM products and services worldwide, grew at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25.9% to $5.165 billion in 2015. The CAGR for the previous three years was 33.8%. Despite challenges, growth continued in many segments of the diverse industry, particularly in metal AM and the desktop 3D printer segments.
ClearEdge3D Offers Case Study Describing Urban Scan-to-Model Workflow
A new case study from ClearEdge3D describes how its EdgeWise software cut modeling time by nearly 70% during creation of an accurate building information model (BIM) of a large multilevel car park in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The savings allowed construction management consulting firm Sustech to move a BIM technician to another project entirely. The case study is free to those who register.

Shapr3D iPad CAD App Available in Free and Paid Versions
Shapr3D is offering a free version of its Shapr3D 3D sketching app for iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, which can be used for fast CAD ideation. The free app supports STEP and IGES file import, three workspaces, and low-quality STL file export. The Pro version of Shapr3D ($24.99 per month) provides unlimited workspaces and STEP, IGES, and high-quality STL export.
ZWSOFT Publishes Free ZWCAD Viewer for CAD Viewing and Plotting
ZWSOFT, a supplier of CAD solutions for the AEC and MCAD industries, has introduced ZWCAD Viewer, a free program for DWG file viewing and plotting. ZWCAD Viewer runs in 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, Mac OS, and Linux operating systems. The software supports drawings in various file formats including DWG, DWF, DWFX, DXF, and DWT.

Panzura Recognizes Four AEC Projects with Innovation Awards
Panzura has announced the winners of the inaugural Panzura Customer Innovation Award, highlighting projects that applied cloud technology to drive innovation. The firms used a combination of Panzura's Global File System Controller and a cloud storage partner, such as Amazon Web Services, to provide dispersed users with collaborative file access. First place went to NELSON for its design of a new corporate campus for GAF, North America's largest roofing manufacturer.
