3Dconnexion’s 3D Mice Now Supported by Solid Edge

6 Oct, 2008

Synchronous technology brings navigation features to Solid Edge Part, SheetMetal, and Weldment.

3Dconnexion, a Logitech company that designs and manufactures motion controllers, announced recently that its line of 3D mice are now supported by the recently released Siemens' Solid Edge.

According to 3Dconnexion, the mice enable design engineers to move in all three dimensions simultaneously with six degrees of freedom to navigate functions in the Solid Edge application environment. The mice are designed to integrate into the 3D design workflow and include the following features:

  • transition between Object and Camera modes

  • access 3D functions, and tasks using SpacePilot and SpaceExplorer

  • control rotation point or rotation axis by selecting a Reference Plane, Face, Edge, or Vertex/Point for the rotation point, and a Reference Plane, Linear segment, or Vertex/Point for the rotation axis

  • zoom into specific sections of the model with Zoom-to-Cursor
