Autodesk announced the availability of Inventor LT Technology Preview 2009, which is available as a free download from Autodesk Labs. Once activated, the new version will run until May 1, 2009, giving users a full year of access.
Inventor LT allows manufacturers to create, share, and edit 3D part designs and DWG drawings. Since its launch in May 2007, the Inventor LT Technology Preview page on the Autodesk Labs Web site has received more than 100,000 visitors and received more than 30,000 Inventor LT product requests, Autodesk reports.
Inventor LT offers the same 3D part-level modeling, import/export, documentation, and rendering capabilities as the Autodesk Inventor 2009 product line. Inventor LT also features sketching-constraint enhancements, functionality for cropped drawing views, and a native 64-bit version. The software offers import/export support for Inventor, PARASOLID, Granite, STEP, IGES, and more. Import support for Pro/ENGINEER, NX, and SolidWorks is available as well.
Inventor LT Technology Preview 2009 is currently available as English-language software for use in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States. Autodesk reportedly plans to further expand availability of Inventor LT to additional countries throughout the rest of 2008.
