IMSI ships TurboCAD V10
17 Mar, 2004IMSI announced that TurboCAD v10 shipped on March 15, with speedier rendering and modeling thanks to updated versions of Lightworks and the ACIS modeling kernel. IMSI says rendering is up to 40% faster, and solid modeling performance is up to 25% faster.
"Over the past 15 years, IMSI has been developing CAD products with the goal of creating a true professional-level CAD solution, said Bob Mayer, executive vice-president of IMSIs Precision Design Division. I am proud to say that, with the release of the TurboCAD version 10 product line, we have achieved that professional level of design sophistication, while maintaining TurboCAD's ease-of-use and affordability."
A new Drafting Palette lets you create 2D layouts of 3D models and assemblies. Layouts can include multiple projections, sectional views, and derivative sectional views. You can now create solids from surfaces and surfaces from solids. The STEP import/export filter and IGES filter are improved.
For architectural design, TurboCAD lets you apply interior and exterior materials to walls. Wall direction indicators help with materials selection and block insertion. You can convert lines, polylines, circles, and curves into walls. Other new features include a Visual BASIC macro recorder.
TurboCAD Professional v10 sells for US$795, and competitive upgrades are US$295.
