New Autodesk Inventor 2009 Productivity Tools Available

15 Oct, 2008

Bonus pack includes part-modeling and drawing-manager productivity features.

Autodesk announced today the availability of the Autodesk Inventor 2009 Subscription Bonus Pack, providing existing Inventor customers with early access to new productivity tools in the drawing, part, and assembly environments of the new software.

Many of the productivity tools in the bonus pack came about as a result of the company's continued focus on existing Inventor customers. Subscription customers will be able to install these tools to their current Inventor 2009 software after downloading a small file from the Autodesk Subscription portal.

According to the company, the software provides a comprehensive and integrated set of 3D mechanical design tools for producing, maintaining, and documenting complete digital prototypes that help bring better products to market faster and at less cost.

New features in the bonus pack include these:

  • Drawing manager productivity: With the addition of productivity tools such as Arrange Dimensions, users can clean up dimensions and drawing annotations. Users can also open a corresponding drawing right from a part or assembly. Other new drawing tools include the ability to refresh drawing parameters, balloon snap and alignment tools on placement, enhancements to projecting geometry, and the ability to edit dimensions during placement.

  • Part modeling productivity: In the drawing environment, users can create parameters through the Edit Dimension dialog box. This capability helps users to set up design intent without leaving the sketching environment.

  • Assembly design productivity: The bill of materials (BOM) editor now allows for Microsoft Excel-type editing, enabling shortcuts like Shift or Control for selection, copy/paste, capitalization, find and replace, and cross highlighting from the BOM editor and assembly model.
