Siemens PLM Software Unveils NX 6
19 May, 2008New version to include synchronous technology and enhanced simulation capabilities.
Siemens PLM Software announced the upcoming release of NX 6, digital product development software that includes the company's recently announced synchronous technology. NX 6 is expected to ship on or before June 30.
"NX 6 delivers on the breakthrough in design productivity we announced last month," said Joan Hirsch, vice-president of NX product development, Siemens PLM Software. "We've integrated synchronous technology into the NX comprehensive toolset, delivering major enhancements to design, simulation, and manufacturing."
NX 6 also will offer a new "active selection" technique, which reportedly adds intelligence to designs as needed. These advanced selection methods automatically recognize logical and feature relationships even on non-native data.
NX 6 simulation will provide extensions to integrated advanced flow and advanced thermal solutions. This enables simulation of the range of coupled multiphysics, including conduction, forced convection, and condensation. New finite-element model-correlation capabilities will enable CAE engineers to validate the accuracy of their simulation results against real-world performance measurements from physical prototypes, the company states.
CAE product knowledge will be coordinated through NX Advanced Simulation, a feature that leverages a new CAE data model and CAE Assembly Product Structure available in Teamcenter for Simulation. In addition, access to Geolus Search inside NX will allow engineers to search for common parts by characteristics such as size and shape. Geolus Search is a 3D search engine that identifies parts based on their geometry characteristics. Geolus search results can include NX parts, JT data, or data from other CAD systems.
