T-Splines Changes Licensing to Focus on Customers

28 Oct, 2007

Company reworks software license program to allow each user of T-Splines for Rhino or T-Splines for Maya to install software on one work computer and one personal computer.

T-Splines has changed its licensing program so each user of T-Splines for Rhino or T-Splines for Maya can activate the software on one work computer and one personal computer. According to the company, previously purchased and future T-Splines licenses may now be activated twice.

"Since the release of T-Splines for Rhino last month, we were surprised by the very high number of users who reported that they work on a desktop machine for their day job, then continue their work at home or on the road on a laptop or a personal computer," said Matt Sederberg, CEO of T-Splines. "These users expressed a desire to be able to continue their T-Splines work, along with their CAD work, at home after being in the office.

"We trust our users. We are a very small software company, so every member of our organization -- including each programmer -- interacts with our users. Our users have been very good to us in giving feedback throughout the evolution of our products, and this is our effort to show the same interest in their well-being as they show in ours."

T-Splines products combine NURBS and other methods with timesaving tools to allow modelers to work with models as a single surface instead of as patches, keeping the surface as simple as possible. T-Splines is used in applications ranging from video games to high-end human anatomy to CAD shape deformation, according to the company.

T-Splines states that companies may not buy one license and install it on two work computers for two different employees; the new program is specifically for single users who want to install their software on one work computer and one personal computer.
